O Projeto PIC

O Projeto Investir na Capacidade (PIC), que nasceu na Associação Portuguesa de Crianças Sobredotadas (APCS), e é financiado desde a primeira edição pela Fundação Lapa do Lobo, existe no Agrupamento de Escolas de Nelas desde 2012/13. A diversidade de atividades que caracterizam o projeto tem sido possível graças a um conjunto bastante alargado de Entidades Parceiras, destacando-se as que se têm mantido ao longo destes anos, a saber: Escola Secundária de Nelas, Câmara Municipal de Nelas, Universidade Católica Portuguesa de Viseu, todas as Escolas Superiores do Instituto Politécnico de Viseu, Centro de Formação Edufor e Instituto Português do Desporto e da Juventude e a já referida Fundação Lapa do Lobo.

Surge como uma necessidade de resposta a alunos com mais capacidades, nem sempre entendidos como tal até porque o desfasamento entre as suas capacidades e a exigência da escola – e até a forma como a mesma se organiza – os leva, muitas vezes, à desmotivação e a resultados muito aquém do que poderiam ser. Para além disso, estes alunos com mais capacidades têm áreas deficitárias que necessitam urgentemente de ser desenvolvidas. Afastar as ideias pré-concebidas associadas à Sobredotação é também um dos objetivos deste projeto, informação que já foi divulgada junto de pais, professores e Instituições parceiras do Projeto, em Ações de Formação e em documentos enviados.

PIC Project

The Project Investing in Capacity (PIC), which was born in the Portuguese Association of Gifted Children (APCS), and has been funded since the first edition by Lapa do Lobo Foundation, has been implemented in the Nelas Schools Group since 2012/13. The diversity of activities that characterize the project has been possible thanks to a very broad set of Partner Entities, highlighting those that have been maintained throughout these years, namely: Nelas Schools Group, Nelas Town Council, Catholic University Of Viseu, all the Higher Schools of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, Edufor Training Center, the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth and the aforementioned Lapa do Lobo Foundation.

It arose as a need to respond to students with more skills, not always understood as such, even in the presence of a gap between their abilities and the school requirement - and even in the way it is organized - often leads them to demotivation and to results far short of what they could be. In addition, these more capable students have deficit areas that need to be developed urgently. Removing the preconceived ideas associated with Giftedness is also one of the objectives of this project, information that has already been shared with parents, teachers and Institutions partners of the Project, in Training Actions and sent documents.
